Lowender Peran,
2nd - 5th November

Lowender Peran is Cornwall's annual inter-Celtic festival, and will this year be based at Hotel Bristol in Newquay, from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th November. With dancers and musicians from Brittany, Cornwall, Isle of Man, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, we always look forward to our 'home' festival.
Hevva will be performing in the Celtic Spectacular on the Friday evening, and will be dancing out in the town during the Saturday and Sunday lunchtimes. See the 'Coming Events' page for our full schedule and where you can see us.

School workshops

We visited St. Mary's C of E School in Truro on 27th September, where we gave dance workshops for the Reception Class and Years 1 and 2 in turn. As well as introducing them to some Cornish dances, we also explained the history of our costume, which they then thoroughly enjoyed trying on!
We were rewarded by some brilliant dancing, and listening to the pupils using greetings and numbers in Cornish. Well done to all three classes!

Newlyn Fish Festival

Newlyn Fish Festival

On a scorcher of a Late Summer Bank Holiday Monday, Hevva travelled west to Newlyn, to perform at the 28th annual Newlyn Fish Festival. We were appearing on the Busker's Corner stage on Mary Williams pier, and thoroughly enjoyed dancing in the sunshine and being a part of this exciting day.
The festival claims to be one of the biggest and best celebrations of the sea, seafood and fishing in Britain, and being there who would doubt it!
